Shalom,
I am the rabbi at Temple Emek Shalom in Ashland, OR, where we have had the honor of hosting storyteller Sara Nesson on a couple of occasions in recent years for beautiful performance/conversation events, which take place online. Her most recent work, Body of Water, a 25-minute monologue, is a powerful, vivid and evocative encounter that follows her life-long journey with water and more recent journey with chronic illness.
Sara, a lover of nature, swimming, and kayaking masterfully interweaves storytelling, myth, Jewish text, and earth-based wisdom as she gifts us an immersive, expansive, and important picture of loss, grief, and resilience.
A Body of Water event would be a powerful addition to any holiday, shabbat, mussar, awareness building, or relevance of Torah programming. So many in my community who participated felt grateful for, informed by, and also seen and understood because of Sara’s meaningful program.
I highly recommend it.
